GETTING TO THE BAY
Put in Bay, Ohio, is located on the crown jewel of the Lake Erie Islands, South Bass Island. More than half a million people visit the island - nicknamed the Key West of the North - every year.
Getting to Put in Bay island is half the fun! The island is on Lake Erie, approximately 5 miles from Catawba Island and Port Clinton, Ohio. There are two different companies with ferry service to the island: The Jet Express and The Miller Ferry. Visit their Web sites to get directions to their docks.

The fastest way to Put-in-Bay!
The Jet Express is a passenger-only ferry that has three high-speed boats that travel between Port Clinton and downtown Put in Bay. The Jet Express offers passengers weather-protected seating indoors or a refreshing open-air ride outdoors. Traveling at speeds of more than 40 mph, it offers the smoothest, fastest ride across Lake Erie to Put in Bay Island.
During your trip, you'll learn interesting history about the region and pass seven different Lake Erie Islands before you arrive in downtown Put in Bay, Lake Erie's number one island destination and vacation hotspot.

Driving directions to the Miller Ferry
The Miller Ferry is a passenger and motor vehicle boat that services both South Bass Island, where Put in Bay is located, and Middle Bass Island from Catawba. Passengers traveling to Put in Bay are dropped off on the island's south shore, where buses, golf carts and taxis are waiting to take you on the short trip downtown.

Ohio Route 2 West to then exit 163 North Port Clinton for the Jet Express or Ohio Route 53 North for the Miller Boat Line. 50 miles
Cincinnati/Dayton, OH:
Take I-75 North to Ohio Route 6. (Bowling Green Exit) Go East to Ohio Route 53 North in Fremont Ohio. North on Ohio Route 53 to Ohio Route 2 East, then exit 163 North Port Clinton for the Jet Express or Ohio Route 53 North for the Miller Boat Line. 215 miles
Detroit, MI:
Take I-75 South to Toledo & take the I-280 split South to The Oregon exit which is Ohio Route 2 exit. Exit on Ohio Route 2 and go East. Exit 163 North Port Clinton for the Jet Express or Ohio Route 53 North for the Miller Boat Line. 90 Miles
Indianapolis, IN:
Take I-69 North to the Indiana/Ohio Turnpike east thru Indiana and into Ohio. Exit on Ohio Route 53 in Fremont, Ohio and go North on Ohio Route 53 to Ohio Route 2 East, then exit 163 North Port Clinton for the Jet Express or Ohio Route 53 North for the Miller Boat Line. 275 Miles
Chicago, IL:
Take the Indiana/Ohio Turnpike east thru Indiana and into Ohio. Exit on Ohio Route 53 in Fremont, Ohio and go North on Ohio Route 53 to Ohio Route 2 East, then exit 163 North Port Clinton for the Jet Express or Ohio Route 53 North for the Miller Boat Line. 280 Miles
Pittsburgh, PA:
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike West into Ohio and take the Ohio Route 250 North exit. North on Ohio Route 250 to Ohio Route 2 West, then exit 163 North Port Clinton for the Jet Express or Ohio Route 53 North for the Miller Boat Line. 210 Miles
